Valuables insurance
Jewellery, watches, works of art: when household contents insurance reaches its limits, a dedicated policy insures your pieces at their true value, worldwide.
Two minutes is all it takes: tell us who you are and what needs covering. We come back with compared quotes.
The essentials
Household contents insurance covers your belongings at home, but it caps the payout for jewellery, watches and cash at contractual limits often well below their real value. Away from home, simple theft, without break-in or assault, is limited, if not excluded. For a collection or a few fine pieces, that base is no longer enough.
Valuables insurance fills precisely these gaps. Each declared piece is covered at an agreed value, set on the basis of a valuation or an invoice: in the event of a claim, the payout rests on that agreed amount, not on an estimate after the fact. Depending on the cover chosen, protection covers pieces worn daily and extends to simple theft, loss and mislaying, in Switzerland and when travelling.
The right contract starts with a precise inventory: up-to-date valuations, photographs, storage conditions. We help you document your pieces, choose between an extension of the household policy and a separate policy, then have the amounts revalued regularly, the value of precious metals and collectors’ watches moves over time.
What this insurance covers
-
Agreed value based on valuation
Each piece is insured for an amount agreed in advance, established by valuation or invoice: no debate over its value once a claim occurs.
-
Worldwide cover
Your jewellery and watches remain insured when travelling as at home, in the safe or on the wrist, in Switzerland and abroad.
-
Simple theft, loss and mislaying
Beyond burglary, the policy covers pickpocketing and pieces that are mislaid or lost, situations excluded or heavily limited under household contents insurance.
-
Jewellery and watches worn daily
Pieces worn every day are covered, including the loss of a stone or accidental breakage depending on the conditions chosen.
-
Works of art and instruments
Paintings, sculptures, musical instruments and collections insured against damage, including during transport and loans to an exhibition.

Frequently asked questions
Doesn’t my household contents insurance already cover my jewellery?
Yes, but within limits. Household contents insurance compensates jewellery and watches up to ceilings set in the contract, often well below the value of a single fine piece. Away from home, simple theft is limited or excluded. A valuables policy lifts those ceilings for the pieces you declare.
What is agreed value?
It is a compensation amount agreed when the contract is concluded, based on a valuation, an invoice or a certificate. In the event of a total loss, that amount is paid out in full, with no fresh valuation and no deduction for depreciation. That is the difference from compensation at market value, which is negotiated once the damage has occurred.
Is a valuation needed for every item?
For significant pieces, yes: a recent valuation establishes the agreed value and prevents any dispute. For more ordinary items, an invoice or a certificate of authenticity is often enough. We tell you which supporting document is expected piece by piece and recommend having valuations updated periodically, as market values move.
Are my valuables covered when I travel?
Yes: cover applies in principle worldwide, including while pieces are worn or in transit. Some situations remain subject to conditions, items left in a vehicle, extended stays abroad, shipments, and are worth checking before departure. That is precisely what we review with you.
